High turnout for Open Days

On Wednesday 10 October, 17:00, the OPEN DAYS 2012 turnout reached 5667 individual visitors.  The vast majority - 4708 - pre-registered for their events.

Capital Cities and Regions, key to Europe’s smart future

Eleven European Capital Cities and Regions gathered yesterday to highlight their experience in delivering prosperity based on smart, inclusive and green growth. Participants questioned Johannes HAHN, Commissioner for Regional Policy, about the proposals on the table. Discussions focused on the foreseen urban tools and on how these would fit to Capital Cities and Regions. All speakers, including Eberhard VAN DER LAAN, Mayor of Amsterdam, CoR member Georgios KAMINIS, Mayor of Athens, Kit MALTHOUSE, Deputy Mayor of London for Business and Enterprise and Pierre KANUTY, President of Ile-de-France Europe, echoed their concerns about the 2014-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework. They made clear that should their territories not benefit from adequate funding, their achievement of Europe 2020 objectives may be very unlikely. More

Networking lunch on CLLD

Community-led local development (CLLD) is one of the main themes of the Meeting Place at OPEN DAYS 2012, with 16 such CLLD workshops in the programme. To bring the CLLD workshop organisers and participants together in an informal networking environment, a CLLD networking lunch of some 300 people was organised yesterday in the Committee of the Regions' 6th floor Atrium. The lunch area was divided into four zones where participants could meet representatives from the main CSF funds.
